There is a spectacular annual elephant festival in Jaipur, India. It is very tough to photograph well, especially in recent years, because of the selfie craze. Most people aren't interested in photographing the beautifully decorated elephants alone. They only want themselves in front of the elephants which makes serious photography challenging to say the least. The number of selfie stick people have metastasized over the entire planet, it seems. Pretty soon they are going to out number cockroaches! (Please forgive the editorial comment.) This picture has been Photoshopped significantly to eliminate tourists and locals posing in front of the elephants. The Indian woman in the green sari is a composite. I photographed her elsewhere during the festival and then used her form to block out someone doing a selfie. My settings were 1/160, f/14, and 250 ISO. I used a 24-105mm lens for the shot. Do note the pink toenails on the elephants.

Linda Purdom - Thank you for this beautiful shot. I'll never see these elephants other than in your photo. As to editorializing, I must agree! It seems people are very egocentric, wanting nothing more than to show their friends, 'I've been there, lucky me!". Thank you for taking the time to eliminate all the selfish people so we can see the elephants dressed in their best for the festival.
