Some of the most dynamic cityscapes are done from elevated points of view. Whenever I travel, I look for rooftop restaurants, hotels with great views, hilltops, and observation decks to take expansive views of a city. I was able to take this dynamic shot of Porto, Portugal from a parking lot atop a hill that overlooked the bridge and the city. I photographed it at twilight and night was well. The photography with all the lights on was spectacular. The twilight image I've included here is a telephoto shot of the Customs House taken from the same place. There is so much photographic potential from elevated vantage points. Do research before you arrive; put pictures you find online on your smart phone or iPad and then show them to a local taxi driver. He'll know where they were taken from.

Jim - Hi Carlton, These kinds of images are what traditionally sell as stock photography. Stock has changed radically over the last 5 years, but they do still sell.

Carlton McEachern - These types of images really appeal to me but how marketable are they?
