I took this picture of wild raccoons in Montreal, Canada nine years ago. I was shooting the Canon 5D Mark II at the time, and noise was a much bigger issue then compared to today. I used 1000 ISO -- the highest setting I felt comfortable with due to noise. It was getting dark, and that forced my exposure settings to be 1/25 and f/2.8 with a 70-200mm lens. I never use a shutter this slow with wildlife, but I took a chance this time. I used image stabilization, and I got lucky. The image turned out sharp. The other challenge was depth of field. Both of the animals had to be sharp, and with such a large lens aperture on a telephoto lens, the only way to achieve that was to wait for a moment where both raccoons were equidistant to the camera. Only then would they be sharp. Had one of the animals been just a couple of inches closer to me than the other one, only one would be sharp while its friend would be 'almost' sharp. That would have ruined the picture in my opinion.
