I am in Mongolia now leading a photo tour. The highlight of the trip is the Golden Eagle Festival in Ulgii in the western part of the country. The eagles are released on the slope of a mountain and they fly down to land on the arm of their trainer who is galloping on a horse. It's a remarkable thing to see and photograph. To blur any aspect of the horse or the eagle would, in my opinion, degrade the image. "Artistic blurs" have no place here, and that's why I used 400 ISO and a large lens aperture to make sure my shutter speed was fast enough. The sun was covered with thin clouds and the bright overcast provided the ideal light. In this shot, the shutter was 1/1600th of a second. Note that every feather of the golden eagle's wings are sharp and so are the legs of the horse. Nothing less would have been acceptble.
