This outdoor portrait has a sense of tremendous depth because I used a wide angle lens (a 14mm lens on a full frame sensor camera) placed very close to the subject, and I also darkened the background somewhat. In Photoshop, I selected the model and then used Select > inverse to grab everything except the model, which of course was the background. I then used Image > adjustments > levels to reduce exposure on the background. That forced our attention on the model and made her really stand out.
This model is wearing 13th century attire designed for a queen. I set this up for my photo tour group in Mongolia.
