To retain complete depth of field in this shot of lavender fields in Provence, southern France, I used focus stacking. I took this a few years ago before focus stacking was automated and built into many of the modern cameras. I had to do it over the course of a minute or so. Because there was a slight breeze, the foreground flowers are not as sharp as they should be because Photoshop had a challenge in aligning all the flowers. In addition, my shutter speed should have been faster, but with older technology, I was trying to keep the ISO down. This is a 12 frame composite. I recently used the automatic focus stacking feature in the Canon R5, and the entire sequence of images is done in about one to two seconds. The results are much, much better. My settings for this picture were 1/50, f/10, and 1000 ISO, and the focal length was 105mm.
