This is a picture of my Great Pyrenees, Prince, as a puppy at 8 weeks. He is now 150 pounds. I think the best pictures of subjects that are close to the ground are taken when the photographer is at eye level. With articulating LCD screens on our cameras now, this is easy to do without laying on possibly wet grass or wet dirt. And as one gets older, it becomes more and more difficult to get down on the ground and then get back up again. The diffused light was ideal for this portrait, particularly because of the white hair. I took this with a Canon 300mm f/2.8, and the settings were 1/160, f/11, and 500 ISO.
