This is a fur seal enjoying a siesta on the Skeleton Coast of Namibia. My biggest photographic concern was depth of field because I used a 400mm focal length. I wanted all of the detail in the fur to be as sharp as possible, especially in the foreground. I used f/16, but in retrospect I should have used f/32 even if the ISO had to be raised. The background detail isn't sharp, but that's a lot more acceptable than if the foreground had been soft. At the time I was shooting with a Canon 7D Mark II, and this camera is known for a lot of noise -- which is the reason I hesitated to close the lens aperture down too much. My shutter speed was 1/800, and the ISO was 640. The soft light was created by morning fog along the coast. This coast is one of the driest places in the world. It hasn't rained here since 1942!
