I shot this image at Schwedegon, the largest and most important temple in Burma. It is an HDR image consisting of six original shots, and the reason I used HDR in this situation was because the central Buddha recessed in the alcove was in deep shadow while the foreground figures were in much brighter light. I first tried the HDR process in Photoshop CC, but I didn't like the results. When I tried to lighten the shadows once Photoshop combined all the exposures, the result was not attractive at all. It appeared too low in contrast to me. What you are seeing here is the result of using Photomatix, and I think this software did a great job. The colors are realistic, the tones are good, and the exposure throughout the image is exactly what I wanted.
If you haven't used HDR yet, I strongly encourage you to try it. It is a phenomenal tool in dealing with contrast.
