I'm in Michigan right now reviewing my itinerary for my Michigan Historic Lighthouse photo tour in October. I want to make sure I remembered the best angles and perspectives for my group to get the optimum shots. This is the Holland Harbor Light, and at dusk lights come on and add a nice touch to Big Red, it's nickname here. It was built in 1907, and I've seen some incredible pictures of this historic structure during severe storms. This evening, however, instead of a storm there was a beautiful sunset. The only problem was it wasn't behind the lighthouse. So, using Photoshop's Sky Replacement feature, I created the image I really wanted. It was very dark when I photographed both the sunset and the lighthouse, and my settings for the latter were 1/125, f/5.6, and 10,000 ISO. I left my tripod in the car so I had to raise the ISO, but in post-processing I used Neat Image software to mitigate the noise.
