Here is another beautiful lighthouse on the east coast of Lake Michigan. It is the Grand Haven South Pierhead Inner Light in Grand Haven, Michigan. I shot this about 10 minutes after sunrise, but clouds in the east prevented golden lighting on the lighthouse. The sky was very bland. So, I replaced the sky with dark clouds indicative of soft and diffused light. I used a 340mm focal length setting with a 100-400mm Canon zoom to compress the catwalk with the lighthouse, and the telephoto reduced the depth of field. It was essential that the entire image be sharp from the immediate foreground to the second structure, therefore my settings were 1/250, f/11, and 5000 ISO. I really should have used f/16, but still I was very happy with the results.
