The Camargue is a marshy region in the south of France. One of the things it is famous for are the white horses that have lived here for thousands of years. The ancient Romans knew them, and the well-known painting of Napolean rearing on a white horse depicts one of these beautiful horses. This shot was taken during one of my photo tours to capture these magnificent animals in action. My shutter speed of 1/1250 was fast enough to freeze both the legs of the horses as well as the water drops. This particular year the marshes were full. It was crucially important to maintain your balance because it would be very easy to lose one's footing and fall into the brackish water. The salt would instantly destroy beyond repair your camera and lens. My other settings were f/8 and 400 ISO, and I took this with a 24-105mm lens.
