Hummingbird setup

This is a green violet-ear hummingbird I photographed in Costa Rica. For hummers, I use a 4-flash setup. One flash is positioned on the background, which is a large photographic print, two flash units are placed on the left- and right front, and one flash is used as a slight backlight. All four flash units have to be the same brand and the same model number to prevent ghosting. I placed nectar inside the flowers to attract the birds, and this setup was put in the shade so direct sun wasn't part of the exposure equation. My settings were 1/200 (which is the synchronization speed with the shutter), f/18, and 500 ISO. The power of the flash units was reduced to 1/16th power which shortened the flash duration to approximately 1/15,000th of a second. That's why the wings are tack sharp. I used a 100-400mm lens, and the camera and lens position was about 8 feet from the flowers.
