My photo tour group spent three days on a private boat traveling to islands in the Komodo National Park, Indonesia, to photograph the largest lizards in the world -- the Komodo dragons. It's quite intriguing seeing these dinosaur-like creatures up close and personal. I wanted to create a picture that shows both the reptiles and their beautiful environment, and that was only possible with Photoshop. The dragons don't climb to the higher elevations of the islands, so this scene wouldn't happen. However, I like the combination of the two shots because you can get a sense of the rugged beauty where these remarkable animals live. After I pasted the dragon into the landscape, I used Image > adjustments > color balance to add red and yellow so the color of the reptilian skin matched the sunset colors. The landscape is a 5-frame HDR composite with one f/stop increments between the shots.

Jim - Hi Constantine, Thank you for your query. I have a photo tour to Indonesia scheduled for this summer, but this particular itinerary doesn't include the Komodo dragons. I've done a wildlife tour to Indonesia that includes the dragons, orangutans, and more. I have done a few private tours, but to hire me for, say, two weeks to Asia would be prohibitively expensive for just one person . . . unless money isn't an issue at all for you. Jim
