This is St. John the Baptist’s Church at the shore of Lake Bohinj in Slovenia. I brought my photo tour group here on my Balkans Trip. I’ve intensified the colors in post-processing, and that made this idyllic scene have more visual impact in my opinion. We photographed this at dusk and twilight to capture the mix of the artificial golden light on the church with the cobalt blue/purple colors of the ambient light at this time of day. I used a tripod, and my settings were 5 seconds, f/6.3, and 500 ISO. My focal length was 35mm on a 24-105mm lens. I have cut down the amount of weight in camera gear as I’ve gotten older and because of my lower back problems, and many times now I travel without a tripod. However, if you plan on shooting at twilight or night, a tripod is necessary.
