I captured this scene in Provence, France. It is a series of lavender fields, and because I wanted a look of compression -- where the fields seem to be stacked together -- I used telephoto lens. That meant the depth of field would be quite shallow, and for landscape work everything needs to be sharp in my opinion. So, I used the focus stacking technique to render every part of the scene sharp. This consisted of 15 exposures taken from a tripod. I had to do a lot of manipulation in post-processing to balance the highlights and the shadows, and I also added additional vibrance and saturation to make the colors dramatic. My settings were 1/400, f/11, and 1600 ISO, and I used a 400mm focal length.
