When I took a photography tour to Mongolia in 2014, the highlight of the trip was the eagle festival in the western part of the country. During the few days we were there, I arranged to have private photo sessions with some of the hunters and their golden eagles. In this shot, I asked them to gallop toward our cameras in low-angled sunlight. The eagles extended their wings as they felt the air rushing past them. I took this with the Canon 5D Mark III I was using at the time, and while the autofocus tracking feature was good, it wasn't nearly as good as the newest cameras are today like the R5. Therefore, I shot in 3 to 4 frame bursts where I refocused constantly as the distance closed between myself and the horsemen. At only 6 frames per second, using that technique (and back button focus) I was able to get quite a few frames in focus. My settings were 1/1600, f/9, and 640 ISO.
