These are cypress trees covered in Spanish moss in the Atchafalaya Swamp Basin in Louisiana. I took this shot just minutes before sunset, thus I was able to capture golden backlighting transilluminating the sheer moss. I used a Canon 100-400mm telephoto for the shot, and my settings were 1/320, f/5.0, and 1000 ISO. The primeval environment of the swamps produces very unusual images. I wanted to do some night photography here, but as it got darker I soon realized I had come unprepared. No mosquito repellant. The mosquitos here are voracious. They chased me back to the car, so I'll have to try again another night.
