This is one of my favorite images from Africa. I captured this in the Masai Mara National Park in Kenya. The lions were mating when suddenly the female turned on the male, and as you can see, he's jumping backward in mid-coitus, surprised and I'm sure not very happy. Fortunately, I had a fast shutter speed set on the camera because otherwise this action shot would have been blurred. It was also fortunate that I was watching the mated pair through the viewfinder and not directly with eyes. That's how I could react so quickly to get this image. I used a 70-200mm lens. I was obviously very close. My settings were 1/800, f/6.3, and 200 ISO. When it comes to wildlife, depth of field must be a secondary consideration. First and foremost is shutter speed. Depth of field is not relevant if the picture isn't sharp. I wish we could see a little more of the male's face, but we can see enough to know his fangs were bared and he wasn't having a good day!
