As much as I love color, one of my favorite color themes in nature is white on white. This is a shot of two stallions playing rough in a marsh in southern France. These are the white horses of the Camargue, and during my workshop there when we put two stallions together, we always get dramatic action. In my opinion, there is no room for blur here. Everything should be tack sharp. That's why I used a super fast shutter. My settings were 1/5000, f/4, and 640 ISO. I could have gotten away with a shutter in the 1/2500 to 1/3200 range, but I had enough light to go faster so that's what I did. I like how every drop and every hair is sharply defined. I shot this with a 70-200mm lens.

This is gorgeous! I love the lighting, the action...It's my favorite place to shoot horses. I'm shooting in Portugal in a few days....Lusitano's....I'll see how I like it :-)
I'm looking forward to returning to the Camargue. I can't get enough of these beautiful horses.
