This lovely arrangement on a bed in a hotel in Bali, Indonesia consists of creatively folded towels and flower petals. Photographing it was a challenge, though, because of the mixed lighting (tungsten, florescent, and daylight) as well as a discrepancy in exposure. The illumination from artificial lights on the tops of the pillows was much brighter than the diffused light entering the room through the sliding glass doors leading to the outside. Therefore, I had to use a lot of post-processing tools to equalize the exposure as well as the color. In Adobe Camera Raw (the same could be done in Lightroom) I used the highlights and the shadows sliders as well as the graduated brush to tone down the top of the image and lighten the bottom. I also adjusted the white balance with the temperature slider.
For the original capture, I used auto white balance. This is the only time I use AWB -- when I'm shooting mixed lighting.
