One of my favorite shots from my New Zealand photo tour in 2018 is this seascape on Moeraki Boulders Beach on the South Island. The brooding sky and the perfect symmetry combine to make a visually compelling image. When photographing near salt water, you have to pay careful attention to wave and tidal action because both can catch you off guard. One drop of salt water touching the sensitive electronics in cameras and lenses means instant death and the loss of thousands of dollars. It's best to wrap your gear in Saran Wrap or something similar just in case. I took this picture with a Sigma 14mm f/1.8 lens set to f/16, and my other settings were 1.6 seconds and 500 ISO. Later, the sun came out and I took a set of very nice sunset pictures, but this one stands out in my mind because of the powerful mood it evokes.
