Sometimes when I travel and arrange a model for my photo tour groups to photograph, I wish we could have the person model for us throughout the tour. I see so many backgrounds and environments that would be perfect for the model to pose in. I end up using Photoshop at times because this gives me the ability to place the model anywhere, and I often take pictures of places specifically to be used as backdrops. For this shot, I photographed the colorful door in Morocco on my first tour there in 2002. That was three years before I went digital. I photographed the model four years ago, also in Morocco, and I remembered this amazing door. So, I used Topaz Mask AI to select the model (I used this software to retain the detail in the fringe of the fabric in the lower right) and then I pasted her in front of the architecture. Note the image of the door was taken with film while the veiled model was shot as a digital file. I specifically photographed the model in diffused light, and that meant the background needed to be in the same kind of soft light.
