One of the more spectacular landscapes I have photographed is this remarkable view of Mount Bromo on the island of Java in Indonesia. Sunrise is often ultra dramatic, and if there is a dynamic sky, the result is over-the-top magnificent. Unfortunately, this view has become so popular that the viewing platform is too crowded (even at 4 o'clock in the morning!) and it's difficult to get a good position for photographing the ancient caldera below. That means you have to do a little hiking and explore the nearby area to find a place where you can take the classic photograph without a crowd around you. It's very doable, but it does take a little bit more effort than in the past. My settings for this were 1/25, f/11, and 250 ISO. I used a tripod, and my lens was a 70-200mm zoom.
