I photographed these old cars and an old gas pump in the Palouse region of Washington State. My 15 second exposure was long enough to capture a portion of the Milky Way. I had rented the Tamron 15-30mm lens to try it out, and this picture was taken with the 15mm focal length. I feel it's important when photographing stars to keep the shutter speed at 20 seconds or less to prevent the beginning of streaks due to the Earth's rotation. I used daylight white balance, and I chose my largest aperture -- f/2.8 -- along with 1250 ISO. It looks like I did light painting here, but the light comes from a couple of lamps placed on the top of two telephone poles.
