When photographing super saturated red subjects, areas of the image can become blown out -- meaning they lose texture and detail. This is similar to highlights blowing out, but in this case it's the red portion of the spectrum. That's what happened when I photographed the two models in Venice during carnival. The solution is to de-saturate only the red color, and this can be done in Adobe Camera Raw, Lightroom, or Photohop. In Photoshop, open up the hue/saturation dialog box (using the pull down menu command: Image > adjustments > hue/saturation, and locate the submenu in that dialog box that shows the word 'master'. Pull that down and choose 'red'. Move the saturation slider to the left just enough to regain detail in the solid red sections of the image.
