I wanted to create a painterly image for a line of gift cards I'm working on, and my goal was to make a picture that had a watercolor and pastel look to it. So, I desaturated the original colors and then used the brush tool to add the white-ish border. I set the tool to 30% opacity with a very soft edge. Finally, I ran the image through Topaz Simply 4 and used the buzsim filter. That smeared the colors in a way that reduced detail slightly and added the painterly feel I was looking for. I shot these exotic tulips in Keukenhof Gardens, Holland.
