This is a tight composition of a section of the Cordillera Paine, the centerpiece of the Torres del Paine National Park in Chilean Patagonia. The color looks like a tweaked it in Photoshop, but I didn't. The pink tones occurred immediately after sunrise and then changed to the more familiar yellow hues within 10 minutes. It was indeed an astonishing sight, especially since the eastern sky was very cloudy and I wasn't sure there was going to be a sunrise at all. I captured this with a Canon 500mm f/4 telephoto, and my settings were 1/30, f/11, and 200 ISO. I used a tripod and the 10-second self-timer because of the slow shutter. Note I didn't use image stabilization because the camera was mounted on the tripod. IS (or VR) is designed to be used when hand holding the camera and the shutter speed is slow.
