The image of polars bears I really wanted was this one -- playful sparing. Sometimes the bears wrestle on the ground together, and it's very entertaining to watch. What I wanted, though, was this full upright position of both bears with their mouths open and their huge paws intertwined. The background isn't great, but that's what the Canadian tundra looks like here. I was shooting at 12 frames per second, and I captured this with a Canon 100-500mm telephoto zoom along with a 1.4x teleconverter giving me 700mm of focal length. You need long glass because the local government regulations don't allow people close to the bears for obvious reasons. My settings were 1/800, f/10, and 5000 ISO.
