It would make sense to think I cropped this image, but I didn’t. It’s full frame. This bear walked straight toward our van as we parked on the shore of Hudson Bay here in Churchill. When ithe animal got about 100 feet away, we all climbed back in the van, obviously for protection, and the bear kept coming. I took this picture through one of the van’s windows, and I had to zoom back to fit the bear’s head in the frame. I still had the 1.4x teleconverter on the camera, so the shortest focal length I could get with the Canon 100-500mm lens was 420mm (because the lens doesn't zoom past 300mm when the teleconverter is attached). My settings were 1/640, f/10, and 8000 ISO. The ISO had to be so high because we had a thick cloud cover and it was early in the morning, so the light level was low. In addition, the side window of the van was tinted.
