While on my China photo tour, I saw a waitress at one of our restaurants that had a lovely face. I was drawn to her long neck and nice cheekbones, so I asked my local guide to speak to her in Chinese and ask if I could photograph her. She was very shy but finally agreed. I placed her against a plain wall and used window lighting from a bank of large, plate glass windows to her right for the diffused light. I then applied the program Portrait Professional 15 to soften her features and smooth her skin. I used my 100-400mm lens so I wouldn't have to stand too close to her which I thought might be too intimidating for someone so shy. My settings were 1/50 (with image stabilization turned on), f/8, 800 ISO.
