I photographed these cocker spaniel puppies in a box using a simple background of black velvet and a softbox with a White Lightning strobe from Paul C. Buff. The key to photographing puppies is to get them so tired they are almost falling asleep. Then you can arrange them and manipulate their bodies any way you want and they don't care. You can even dress them in doggy clothes, put hats on them, and they just allow all that silliness without any resistence. When they are fully awake, they are so active it's hard to set up a shot you have in mind. I originally wanted both puppies to be completely inside the box, but when I saw their legs hanging out, I thought it was really cute. I took this with a 50mm macro lens, and my settings were 1/60, f/9, and 640 ISO.
