I took this picture of colorful fishing boats in Jakarta, Indonesia. I loved the combination of color as well as the repeating shapes. I recognized there were two important photographic principles necessary to make this successful: 1) telephoto compression, which underscored the graphic design, and 2) complete depth of field. I used a medium telephoto lens -- 70-200mm -- for the shot, and I set the lens aperture to f/16 for the complete depth of field. The shutter was 1/500, and that made the ISO 800. Notice how I included a minimum of the cement walkway. There are four things that, when included as a foreground, should usually be minimized: cement, asphalt, dirt, and gravel.
