I'm flying to Costa Rica today to begin a photo tour there that is focused on birds. This small Central American country has recorded over 900 species of birds, so this trip should afford tremendous opportunities. The one species I'm looking forward to photographing, especially in flight and with a lot of nest activity, is the resplendent quetzal, shown here. Last time, I got one flight shot. It was good but not great, so we'll see what I get this time. With the Canon R5, I have a faster frame rate and the amazing eye-tracking feature, so this should help me get something I'm pleased with. I also have a longer focal length now. I'll be shooting with a 500mm plus a 1.4x teleconverter. My local guide told me he's been watching a nest with newly hatched chicks, so my group and I are really looking forward to this. The settings for this shot were 1/2500, f/8, and 5000 ISO.
