Early July is peak time in Provence, France to photograph the incredible fields of lavender flowers. I've decided to offer a photo tour to this area next summer, so I'm posting this image from the last time I was there. Farmhouses, medieval abbeys, and quaint villages often make wonderful backdrops to the graphic lines of the fields of flowers, although in this shot it's the lone tree that adds to the symmetry and design of this composition. My settings were 1/125, f/11, 400 ISO, and I used a 70-200mm lens. Note the complete depth of field. The last thing you'd want in a landscape image is for the foreground to be out of focus even slightly.

Jim - Thank you, Sylvia. I was getting tired of the black background. Years ago, photographers loved a black background because that color focused attention on the photographs. While that's true, white offers a clean look that somehow seems more modern.
