My photo tour group spent yesterday afternoon at the beautiful bird park here in St. Marie de la Mer, France, photographing the thousands of wild flamingos and other species that inhabit the marshy area of the park. I particularly wanted to capture the unique method the flamingos use to get airborne. They run on the surface of the water to gain air speed, and in doing so their long, slender legs and graceful wings create interesting graphic lines. My settings for this shot were 1/3200, f/11, auto ISO, and manual exposure mode. These are the standard settings I use for birds in flight to freeze the action. This picture is un-cropped.
