One of my frustrations when photographing in Africa is the safari vehicles are too high, and that places photographers about 6 to 7 feet off the ground. Since it's impossible to get out of the Land Rover for obvious reasons, it's very difficult to get that low angled shot that makes wildlife look so impressive. In most instances, the best you can hope for is when the subject is on a rise in which it can be photographed at eye level or even below eye level. Such was the case with this shot of a cheetah at sunset. It was on a small hill in an otherwise flat landscape, and that enabled me to take the kind of perspective I like. The cat was fairly close, so my focal length was only 200mm, and the settings were 1/3200, f/13, and 200 ISO. By shooting into the sun without any kind of exposure compensation, I let the brilliant backlighting dictate the exposure which, in turn, gave me the perfect silhouette.
