I have been using the new ‘generative fill’ command in Photoshop a lot since it was first introduced (Edit > generative fill). It can solve all kinds of problems. In this case, the original shot was cropped just a little too tightly as the mountain lion climbed the tree. With wildlife, often action takes place in milliseconds, and even when you’re shooting with a fast frame rate, the best frame in a sequence may be imperfect. For example, the tip of the cat’s tail was cropped off. Generative fill allows you to expand the image area and the artificial intelligence programmed into the command fills in those blank areas with more of the image. The software recognized the tail of the lion and ended it perfectly in the revised version. It’s truly remarkable technology. My settings for this shot were 1/1250, f/8, and 2000 ISO.
