What is remarkable about this picture -- beside the beautiful wing formation -- is that the ISO setting was 20,000. It was late in the afternoon in the Canadian winter, and the light was low. I was using auto ISO because I had to have a fast shutter -- 1/3200 in this case -- and I insisted on a certain amount of depth of field -- f/11 to make sure both wings were sharp. To achieve a correct exposure, the ISO automatically was pushed extremely high. In post-processing, I applied Topaz DeNoise AI, and miraculously the noise disappeared. Now the picture looks like I used 200 or 400 ISO. I took this shot using a frame rate of 14 fps, and my focus points were set to a central cluster of 9 points. This particular year was unusually warm and the snow had melted from the trees.
