This is a medieval stepwell -- i.e. water storage facility -- in Jaipur, India that I captured near sunset. The lighting was perfect. It really helps to have a local guide who understands photography and, specifically, lighting. This makes it easy for me to plan each day for optimum images. I hired the model for my photography tour group to add a splash of color as well as a focal point in the midst of the very graphic pattern. When the stepwell fills up with rain water, women don't have to walk down as far to fill up their urns. I used a 105mm focal length for this shot, and my settings were 1/160, f/11, and 200 ISO.
