This is a 400mm shot of a portion of a lavender field a few minutes after sunrise near Sault, a small town in Provence. Due to the shallow depth of field of long lenses, and because landscape photos require -- in my opinion -- complete depth of field virtually without exception, I took this picture at f/22 from a tripod. The rows of flowers were far enough away that I was able to capture everything in focus from the foreground to the background. Notice how the shadows on the lavender are blue while the top of the rows that received direct sunlight retained their lavender color. I used daylight white balance, the 2-second self-timer, and a center cluster of focus points.
