Twilight on Gordes

This is Gordes, one of the classic villages in Provence. As with all European villages, cityscapes, and architecture, using the lighting at twilight is the most dynamic approach to creating beautiful images. I am now shooting twilight images with HDR because the contrast is too much for a RAW file to handle. The shadows go black and the highlights can become overexposed. With the assistance of the HDR technique, this problem is solved. This is a 5-frame bracketed sequence with one f/stop increments. I used a tripod, a 16-35mm wide angle lens, and daylight white balance. My settings were f/3.2 and 500 ISO. The shutter varied according to the bracketed exposures. Notice the contrast in color between the deep blue tones and the golden colors from the lighting. This is why I choose to use daylight white balance.
