This is an agave cactus I photographed in Baja California, Mexico, in the 80's. I used Fujichrome Velvia transparency film and a Mamiya RZ 67 medium format camera. This gave me a large transparency (6x7cm or 2 1/4 x 2 3/4 inches) for impressive resolution. In post-processing (after the slide was scanned and digitized by an Imacon scanner), I added the sky, and in Adobe Camera RAW I added texture to enhance what was already there. My camera settings were not recorded, but my best educated guess based on how I used to shoot film would suggest 1/15 and f/32. Velvia's ISO rating was 50. The original sky wasn't tack sharp, and this is why I replaced it with a clearly defined background.
