This is a composite with 5 images. I photographed the three pyramids in Giza, Egypt, separately during the sound and light show. From the vantage point where tourists have to sit, the pyramids are spread out and not stacked like this. From out in the desert, there is a great viewpoint where they appear stacked, but not from where I had to shoot this. So, I took three individual shots and then arranged them to look like the classic view from the other side. Then I added a shot of the total solar eclipse from the 2017 event (the next total solar eclipse in the U.S. occurs on April 8, 2024 and starts in Texas), and for a final touch added the Milky Way. During a solar eclipse, the sky gets dark but it's not dark enough to capture detail like this in the galactic core of the Milky Way. With Photoshop, of course, anything is possible. I captured the stars with a 14mm lens, and I shot the moon obscuring the sun with a 500mm telephoto plus a 1.4x teleconverter, giving me 700mm of focal length.

Linda Purdom - That is an amazing composite. I can only guess how much time that must have taken to pull all those photos together into one shot. I agree with Maria - WOW!.
