You have to learn the controls of your camera so you know them like the back of your hand. Subjects move, lighting changes, and expressions are fleeting. You don't want to miss a special moment, and if you are fumbling with your camera, for example, you'll miss the shot. While I was walking down a street in Chefchaouen, Morocco, I passed the open doorway to a small hotel lobby and saw this perfectly composed composition. The cat couldn't have been placed better. I knew I didn't have time to set up a tripod in this dark environment because the cat would move for sure. So I quickly raised the ISO to 4000 and took the picture on Program mode with 1/40th of a second at f/4. Moments later the cat, in fact, moved. When you buy a new camera, make sure you can change the controls at a moment's notice, especially the ISO, exposure mode (P, Av, Tv, and M), exposure compensation, shutter speed, and lens aperture. I'm leading my next Morocco photo tour in May, 2017.
