I gave a Photoshop workshop in my home this past weekend, and in demonstrating various techniques I often produce new or improved images. I was showing how to use Topaz Remask 5 to select fine detail in hair when I put this composite together. The model had been photographed on a table with her dress hanging over the edge and her hair hanging down. The background is a foggy forest in Italy photographed with daylight white balance at dawn. This accounts for the blue tone. I captured the bats in Costa Rica during one of my photo tours there, and to imbue them with the blue color of the background I lowered the opacity of the layers consisting of the bats to 83%. Topaz Remask 5 isn't perfect when it comes to separating hair, but it does a good job and it's the best tool we have for this. I made the reflection using the Photoshop plug-in 'Flood'.
