Sunrise in the Tianzi Mountains in central China is particularly spectacular when low clouds and fog are present. This happens much of the time. To get to this vantage point, my photography tour group and I got up at 4am to be there before we got crowded out by throngs of Chinese with their selfie sticks. I used a 24-105mm lens set to 105mm for this shot. My settings were 1/40, f/22, and 640 ISO. I used a small aperture to insure complete depth of field with the medium telephoto focal length. There were several planes of focus, and they all needed to be sharp for this to work. The exposure was influenced by the position of the sun in the frame, and I simply used the exposure compensation feature to adjust the light and dark values until I liked what I saw.
