I am in Churchill, Manitoba, Canada right now leading my first international photo tour since March, 2020. It feels great to be out shooting again, and polar bears are an amazing subject to watch through the viewfinder. It should be much colder here, but global warming has affected the climate in Canada like everywhere else. The bears are in this area waiting for the pack ice to form on Hudson Bay so they can hunt seals, but they are going to have to wait a while longer for that to happen. It's been 32 degrees the last week or so and that's, essentially, a heat wave here. For this frame-filling shot, I used the new Canon 800mm f/11 telephoto. It's sharp, extremely light weight, and it's incredible that such magnification is possible while hand holding the camera and lens. My settings were 1/1250, f/11, and 1600 ISO.
