Topaz Impression is my favorite plugin for turning photos into paintings. It is so easy to use that you don't need a tutorial. The presets that Topaz gives you are excellent. Each one can be tweaked with a number of sliders, and the results are quite artistic. If you print the results on canvas, use stretcher bars to frame the 'painting', and hang it on a wall, it really does simulate an original oil or acrylic. I thought this old fashioned soda found in St. John's, Washington was perfect for this technique. This is an HDR composite, and I used Nik HDR Efex Pro to process it.

Winslow Townson - I did know that but I've never been there. If you ever get a pic of the town sign send it along. It would be a great screen saver for me. And thanks for the info on Impressions, there are so many options in there and I couldn't figure out which one you used.

Jim - Hi Winslow, This is 'colored pencil' within Topaz Impression, and I didn't tweak any of the settings within that preset. By the way, did you know there is a city in Arizona named after you?

Winslow Townson - Hey Jim,
What effect and settings in Topaz Impression did you use to create this one?
Thanks,
Winslow
