The easiest and quickest way to turn a photo into a painting -- and this is my favorite technique -- is to use Topaz Simplify 4. The 'Buzsim' slider is the key. By moving this slider back and forth you can adjust the amount of detail in the image, and in a very realistic way the colors are blended as if a paint brush created the image. This works great with all kinds of images, from portraits to landscapes, from architecture to nature. I photographed this original scene in Weston, Vermont, and I used a 24-105mm lens. The original settings were 1/250, f/8, 250 ISO.

Jim - Hi Daniel, They are just different. Both have great ways to make photos artistic. It's hard to explain -- you have to see the images. Simplify is a plugin. Glad you like Impression. I agree it's a great tool. So is Simplify.

Daniel Reynaud - Hi Jim, how does it compare to Impression ? Is this a Plug In or a Stand Alone ?And by the way, I am so grateful that you introduced us to Impression last year, I love it !!
